Our Workmanship Warranty
What We Cover
Our workmanship warranty covers the installation. If water gets in because of how the roof was put on, we come back and fix it and there is no charge for doing so.
That includes flashing we installed, fastening, the underlayment, the ventilation work and the detailing at every edge and penetration.
What the Manufacturer Covers
The shingle maker covers defects in the product itself. That is a separate document from a separate company, with its own terms. It is usually prorated after the first few years.
We register it for you and send you the confirmation. A manufacturer warranty that nobody registers is a warranty you paid for and do not have.
What Voids Either One
- Pressure washing the roof, which strips granules and drives water under the shingles
- Work by another contractor on the same roof, which can void a workmanship warranty
- Ventilation that is later blocked, for example by insulation added into the eaves
- Damage from an event rather than from the installation, such as a storm, a falling limb or a fire
- Walking on the roof, on the brittle materials where that is stated
The Honest Part
A long workmanship warranty is worth exactly what the company behind it is worth in ten years. Roofing has very high turnover and companies close and reopen under new names, which resets everything.
So ask us three things. How long we have traded under this name. Whether the company on your contract is the one doing the work. And for the warranty in writing before you sign. Then ask every other bidder the same three questions.
